Website privacy & disclosures
Updated October 10, 2026. This page explains the OH HAIL NAH website, its weather tools, the store and aggregate measurement. Alert signup has a separate detailed policy for subscriber data and deletion.
Weather searches and saved places
City and ZIP searches and chosen coordinates are sent to our weather service to find locations and retrieve official weather information. The interactive desk may save selected places on your device. Remove saved places in that desk or clear your browser data. Our website action counter does not include searched locations or coordinates.
Website measurement
We count selected actions such as opening coverage or radar, choosing alert signup, and clicking YouTube or affiliate links. Our own counter stores totals by UTC day and action. It does not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, coordinates, full destination URLs or unique visitor IDs. IP addresses may be used temporarily to limit repeated requests. It respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control where those browser signals are available.
These counts describe clicks, not completed subscriptions, purchases or unique viewers. Squarespace provides separate platform analytics and hosting services, which may process technical request data under its own policies. Our separately hosted weather service uses Cloudflare infrastructure.
Weather alert subscribers
When you request alerts, the alert service processes the location, warning preferences and delivery destination needed to send them. Email signup requires confirmation. Email delivery uses Mailgun; Messenger and Instagram delivery use Meta. Weather alert signup is separate from marketing newsletter consent.
Read the alert data retention, unsubscribe and deletion policy. Existing email unsubscribe links remain usable. Contact zachary@ohhailna.com for privacy questions.
Feature feedback & space-weather data
Feature-update email signup is not currently available on the Space Weather & Aurora page. That page does not currently collect email addresses for a feature-interest mailing list. If you choose to email feedback, we receive your email address and message so we can respond. Sending feedback does not subscribe you to weather alerts or marketing emails. Contact zachary@ohhailna.com to request deletion of your feedback.
Space-weather observations and aurora forecast images load directly from NOAA services, which receive the technical information needed for your browser’s requests. This page does not collect your precise location for aurora viewing.
AI weather desk
The weather desk on our pages writes plain-language summaries of official National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center data. When you search for a place, ask a question or open a briefing, your question and the place you picked are sent to our weather service on Cloudflare to produce the answer. The summaries are generated by an AI model, so always follow official warnings.
The desk saves your settings, saved places and recent desk conversation in your browser’s local storage on this device, not in an account. Clear them with the desk’s own controls or by clearing your browser data. The “use my location” button only works if you press it and allow location access in your browser. Please don’t type personal details into the desk.
Store orders and payments
The store runs on Squarespace Commerce. When you place an order, Squarespace collects your name, email address, shipping and billing address and order details so the order can be completed, shipped and supported. Card payments are handled by Squarespace’s payment processors, including Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Many products are printed on demand. Your name, shipping address and order details are shared with our print-on-demand partner, Printful, so it can produce and ship your item. Squarespace, Stripe and Printful process this information under their own privacy policies. Order records are kept as required for tax, accounting and customer-service purposes.
Product pages load Stripe’s script, which Stripe uses to help prevent fraud. It sets cookies on our domain such as __stripe_mid (about 1 year) and __stripe_sid (short-lived), and Stripe may set its own cookies. See the Stripe Privacy Policy. Product pages also include a Pinterest “Save” button provided by Squarespace, which loads Pinterest’s script and contacts Pinterest’s servers when the page loads. See the Pinterest Privacy Policy.
Page-speed monitoring (SpeedVitals)
To keep the site fast, we use SpeedVitals real-user monitoring. Only after you allow performance cookies in our cookie settings, and then interact with the page, its script can load from speedvitals.com and reports page-speed measurements, such as load timings, along with the page address and basic browser and device information. We use these reports only to find and fix slow pages. In our testing it did not set cookies.
Session analytics (Microsoft Clarity)
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people use the site, so we can fix things that are confusing or broken. Clarity records page views, clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and can replay a visit as a session recording. It also notes your device type, browser, screen size and approximate region. Clarity can start only after you allow performance cookies in our cookie settings. It is delayed until an interaction or scheduled check, and is excluded from store, cart and checkout pages.
- Clarity is set to mask text you type into forms, such as a ZIP code or email address. (Masking setting: Strict.)
- Clarity sets first-party cookies on our domain:
_clck(about 1 year) and_clsk(about 1 day). - Microsoft also sets its own cookies on clarity.ms and bing.com, such as
MUID(about 13 months) andCLID(about 1 year), plus short-lived cookies. Microsoft may use these across other sites that use Microsoft services. - Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
To prevent these optional analytics scripts from loading, decline performance cookies in Manage cookies. Our loaders also honor Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track and the weather desk’s measurement opt-out setting on this browser. After changing a choice, reload the page so a previously loaded script is no longer active. You can also block clarity.ms and bing.com with a content blocker. These choices do not erase information previously received by a provider. Our own action counter (above) is separate and still stores no visitor IDs.
Videos and external links
Video players on the home page and the Watch page are click-to-play. No YouTube or Twitch player loads until you press Play. Before that, we only show a still image, which may come from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com).
When you press Play, the YouTube player loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced address (youtube-nocookie.com), or the Twitch player loads from Twitch. From then on, YouTube or Twitch processes information under their own policies, and may set cookies. Social, shopping and other external links follow their own policies.
Data sources and credits
ZIP code lookup uses data from Zippopotam.us and GeoNames. The database is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. Official warnings and forecasts come from the National Weather Service.
Affiliate disclosure
Some gear and shopping links are affiliate links. OH HAIL NAH may earn a commission when you purchase through them. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Affiliate relationships do not make a product necessary for receiving free weather alerts. Check current prices, suitability and seller terms before purchasing.
Integration policies
The existing TikTok integration privacy policy remains available for that integration. This website-wide page provides the broader website disclosures.
